While maintaining the three-CEO system of Kim Ki-nam, Kim Hyun-suk, and Ko Dong-jin, Samsung appointed President No Tae-moon (52) as head of the Wireless Business Division, separated from the IT & Mobile (IM) division, aiming for "change within stability."
On the 20th, Samsung Electronics announced a regular executive reshuffle involving a total of nine people, including four promotions to president and five changes in assigned duties. ▶Related article on page 4
Vice Chairman Kim Ki-nam, head of the Device Solutions (DS) division overseeing semiconductor and display businesses; President Kim Hyun-suk, head of the Consumer Electronics (CE) division; and President Ko, head of the IT & Mobile (IM) division, were retained. This reflects Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong’s intention to maintain stability amid circumstances such as the retrial of Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong and simultaneous trials of key management personnel.
Signals of "change" were also given. A representative example is the appointment of President No, who was previously the head of development at the IM division’s Wireless Business Division, as the head of the Wireless Business Division (President). The IM division, composed of the Wireless Business Division responsible for smartphones and PCs and the Network Business Division responsible for communication equipment, had been concurrently managed by President Ko.
Samsung Electronics stated, "The three CEOs are expected to create synergy between divisions and focus more on discovering future growth engines at the company-wide level while nurturing successors. President No, a young leader aged 52 who played a key role in the Galaxy saga, is expected to present innovative strategies and inject new vitality into the organization." Lee In-yong, Senior Advisor in charge of social contribution, moved to the position of President responsible for external affairs (CR).
Four vice presidents were promoted to president. Jeon Kyung-hoon, Vice President and head of the IM division’s Network Business Division, was promoted to president; Hwang Sung-woo, Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Technology Institute, was promoted to Director; Choi Yoon-ho, Vice President of the Business Support Task Force (TF), was promoted to president; and Park Hak-gyu, Vice President and head of Samsung SDS business operations, was appointed President and head of Samsung Electronics DS division’s Management Support Office. By promoting vice presidents who contributed to new business growth and core technology development to president, Samsung Electronics demonstrated its determination to lead future growth.
