South Korea Ranks 2nd in Bloomberg Innovation Index...Manufacturing Value Added and Education Efficiency Decline

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] South Korea, which had ranked first for six consecutive years in the innovation ranking published annually by Bloomberg News, was ranked second this year.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the 19th, South Korea scored 88.16 points in Bloomberg News' "2020 Bloomberg Innovation Index," ranking 2nd among 60 countries.
In particular, South Korea's rankings improved in detailed evaluations such as research intensity (7→5th) and patent activity (20→11th), while rankings declined in manufacturing value-added (2→3rd) and education efficiency (7→16th).
This year, South Korea lost first place by 0.05 points to Germany, which was ranked second last year. Until last year, South Korea had maintained first place for six consecutive years.
