Gwangju Seo-gu Council Passes Ordinance to Disclose Businesses Violating Environmental Laws

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Kang Ki-seok) announced on the 19th that at the 2nd plenary session of the 281st extraordinary meeting held on the 21st, it approved the "Ordinance on Disclosure of Businesses Violating Environmental Regulations," which was proposed by Representative Kim Su-young.
The ordinance proposed by Representative Kim aims to ensure transparency in the administrative disposition process and to promptly induce correction of violations by disclosing to the residents the names and violations of businesses that discharge pollutants in violation of environmental regulations.
The main contents of this ordinance include ▲ the scope of disclosure, types of industries and businesses ▲ methods and timing of disclosure ▲ prior notification before disclosure ▲ matters related to deletion of disclosed information.
In particular, the timing of disclosure can be within 5 days from the date of administrative disposition. However, the district mayor must delete the information disclosed on the internet according to Article 3 after 30 days have passed since the disclosure date.
