Ruling Party Targets Youth Votes... Nationwide Youth Party Forward Rally Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Democratic Party of Korea held the 'National Youth Party Advancement Rally' on the 19th, intensifying efforts to secure the 'youth vote' for the April 15 general election.
The Democratic Party hosted the National Youth Party Advancement Rally at the National Assembly Members' Office Building. The National Youth Party is the new name given after reorganizing the party's existing youth organization, the 'National Youth Committee.' The event saw a large attendance of 2030 generation members, including Democratic Party floor leader Lee In-young, National Youth Committee Chairman Jang Kyung-tae, and youth committee chairpersons from various provinces and cities.
Floor leader Lee urged the attendees, "I ask you to overcome old-fashioned people like me and become the vanguard of our party's values of fairness, innovation, and future."
He said, "Let me say a word about old-fashioned people. This general election is crucial to completing the Candlelight Citizen Revolution and ensuring the success of the Moon Jae-in administration," adding, "However, the Liberty Korea Party is trying to undermine this and reverse the reforms we have made over the past two years."
He continued, "The Liberty Korea Party's number one pledge was to abolish the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HCIU), and their subsequent pledges conspicuously include obstructing expansionary fiscal policies, opposing energy policies, abolishing the 52-hour workweek system, and reverting to the Park Geun-hye administration's policy of buying houses with debt."
