On the morning of the 17th at an expanded executive meeting held at the National Assembly, Lee said, "Yesterday, a media outlet reported that our party was recruiting Roh Jae-heon, son of former President Roh Tae-woo, but that is completely untrue."
The previous day, a media outlet reported that the Democratic Party was considering recruiting lawyer Roh as a talent for the general election. Earlier, last year, Roh visited Gwangju twice to apologize to the bereaved families of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement victims, and at the end of last year, he visited the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Seo-gu, Gwangju, where he left a message in the guestbook saying, "Roh Jae-heon, I will carry on the great will," attracting attention.
Lee said, "Fake news keeps emerging during talent recruitment," and urged, "Party officials, please respond so that you are not swayed by such things."
Regarding preparations for the general election, he said, "The Public Office Election Candidate Recommendation Management Committee has been launched and will officially begin candidate screening," adding, "Candidate applications will be accepted from Monday the 20th to the 28th." He emphasized, "Transparent candidate selection is the shortcut to winning the general election," and stated, "We will conduct candidate selection that no preliminary candidate can object to."

He also reiterated the achievements of the 20th National Assembly. Lee said, "The 20th National Assembly was often criticized for poor performance, but it accomplished many very important things. It impeached the president, enacted the law to establish the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office, which had long been a wish, and revised the election law." He added, "Adjusting investigative authority between the prosecution and police was a very difficult challenge, but it was completed," and said, "Although the number of laws passed in the 20th National Assembly may be small, looking at the process, important laws that can advance our society to the next level were well completed in the 20th National Assembly, and I would like to reiterate this."
