Eonju Lee on Conservative Unification Talks: "Innovation Must Be Achieved Through Integration"
On the morning of the 14th, Lee Eon-ju, the preparatory committee chairperson for the founding of the Jinjin Party, held an emergency press conference at the National Assembly Press Hall regarding conservative unification, stating, "I hope that the discussions of the Innovation Integration Promotion Committee, which are both the subject of innovation and those who claim to pursue innovation, will lead to the birth of a new party that does not enjoy vested interests." The leading force in politics must be replaced."
In a post on her Facebook that day, Lee said, "If it is a righteous unification, we will join, but if it is a bad unification, the Forward Party cannot participate."
She continued, "Are they unable to read the desire for replacement of the so-called existing main political forces among right-wing citizens? There is widespread talk in the market that the old-fashioned unification centered on certain factions that have already failed, stepped down, or gone out and failed is a bad unification," emphasizing, "This is a bad unification."
Lee also said, "We do not think that a simple physical merger guarantees victory in the general election. It could be 0.5 instead of 1+1=2," and stressed, "Authoritarian regimes, the main actors of the 1987 system, and forces mainly responsible for the birth of the Moon Jae-in administration are all targets of innovation."
She criticized, "There is nothing more ridiculous than the targets of innovation talking about innovation. Seeing them reappear during election times and talk about innovation makes the people feel empty. The people will no longer be deceived by hypocrites."
Furthermore, Lee said, "A unification organization that does not represent the voices and sighs of the common people who shed tears to set the country right in Gwanghwamun and elsewhere cannot gain legitimacy. It is just another upper-class aristocratic group," and added, "Let's replace the leading political forces with a new political force, the next generation after the 86 activist generation."
