Kiwoom Securities Launches Overseas Bond Brokerage Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kiwoom Securities' foreign currency asset specialist organization, the Global WM (Wealth Management) Center, announced on the 15th that it has launched an overseas bond brokerage service that enables various bond transactions with industry-lowest brokerage fees.
The Global WM (Wealth Management) Center judged that now is the right time for domestic investors to increase their interest in overseas bonds, considering domestic and international market conditions. The United States has lowered interest rates three times in 10 years since the 2009 financial crisis, and Korea has entered an ultra-low interest rate era in the 1% range by lowering rates twice in three years since 2016.
Overseas bonds are attractive because they offer higher interest rates than the domestic financial market. Additionally, when the currency value of the investment bond rises, additional foreign exchange gains can be expected, and depending on individual investment preferences, for major key currencies (US dollar, Euro, Australian dollar, etc.) bonds, investment returns can be fixed in Korean won through foreign exchange hedge transactions at the initial investment stage. Meanwhile, overseas bonds have abundant liquidity in both issuance and secondary markets, allowing for the construction of diverse portfolios by country, currency, rating, and maturity, and flexible responses to market conditions.
Kiwoom Securities Global WM (Wealth Management) Center plans to provide consulting services related to overseas bond investments to individual investors in the future. They intend to offer various information not only on the basic decisions required when investing in overseas bonds, such as currency, country, and issuing company selection, but also on the target yield of the bonds, foreign exchange hedge methods, and outlook on the issuing companies.
