[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Professor Ryu Seok-chun of Yonsei University's Department of Sociology, who stated during a university lecture that the Japanese military comfort women were "a type of prostitution," was investigated by the police.
On the 14th, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that they summoned Professor Ryu as a suspect for questioning the previous afternoon on charges including defamation. This came four months after Professor Ryu made the controversial remarks in September last year. The police reportedly focused on questioning the intent behind his statements.
