Persons with Disabilities Under 18 Years Old Can Also Reissue Online Disability Registration Cards
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Starting as early as the second half of this year, people with disabilities under the age of 18 will be able to apply online for reissuance of their disability registration cards.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 14th that it recommended the Ministry of Health and Welfare to allow people with disabilities under 18 to apply for reissuance of disability registration cards through "Bokjiro" after identity verification.
Registered persons with disabilities can choose to receive one of the following: a disability registration card, a disability welfare card, or an integrated disability welfare card (Type A or Type B).
If lost, persons with disabilities aged 18 or older can apply for reissuance through "Bokjiro" after identity verification using a public certificate.
However, persons with disabilities under 18 cannot apply through "Bokjiro" due to age restrictions, even if they have a public certificate, and must visit a community service center in person.
Because of this, complaints have been raised on the National Petition System requesting that "people with disabilities under 18 be allowed to apply for reissuance through 'Bokjiro' after identity verification."
In response, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission recommended that the Ministry of Health and Welfare lift the age restriction so that people with disabilities under 18 can apply for reissuance of disability registration cards through "Bokjiro" after identity verification.
