View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 14th that it will completely revamp the Automobile Recall Center, which provides information on automobile defects and recalls, starting from the 15th.
Until now, the Automobile Recall Center only allowed users to check whether a vehicle was subject to recall by entering vehicle information such as the vehicle registration number and chassis number. However, with this revamp, users can directly verify whether a recall has been performed by entering vehicle information. This makes it easier to confirm recall status for rental vehicles and used cars for sale, which had previously been difficult to verify.
The mobile website functionality has also been enhanced. Previously, functions such as online defect reporting were only available through the PC website, but going forward, these will also be accessible via mobile devices. Additionally, when reporting, defect and recall information related to the reported vehicle will be provided, and statistical functions for defect reports and recall status have been strengthened to offer more information.
Meanwhile, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority’s Automotive Safety Research Institute has established a 'Comprehensive Defect Information Analysis System.' This system analyzes defect information by vehicle model, type, and accident based on data provided by manufacturers and defect reports, enabling early detection of automobile defects.
Yoon Jin-hwan, Director of the Automobile Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, "As the trend of increasing automobile recalls continues, the importance of analyzing and investigating automobile defects is growing. We will conduct thorough and proactive defect investigations to ensure public safety."
