Police Launch Investigation into Embezzlement Allegations of Maintenance Fees at Gangnam Rental Apartments

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Allegations have arisen that former building managers embezzled maintenance fees at a rental apartment in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the Suseo Police Station in Seoul on the 13th, the apartment residents' representatives' meeting filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 2nd, accusing five individuals, including building managers who worked from 2013 to last year, of embezzling at least 420 million won in maintenance fees, on charges of embezzlement, breach of trust, and fraud.
The prosecution transferred the case to the Suseo Police Station on the 7th and is directing the investigation. The police plan to review the materials received from the prosecution and summon the complainants soon to verify the basic facts.
Earlier, in November last year, the residents' representatives' meeting also filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station against Gangnam District Office officials responsible for apartment-related tasks during the tenure of the former building managers involved, accusing them of breach of trust and dereliction of duty.
