The Social Safety Net 4.0 Forum to Hold 'Basic Income' Policy Debate on the 14th

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] The Social Safety Net 4.0 Forum and the Jeju Research Institute will hold a policy discussion on the 14th under the theme "Discussing Basic Income from Conservative and Progressive Perspectives."
The discussion will take place at 10 a.m. in the main auditorium on the 6th floor of the Korea Council on Social Welfare. Measures to alleviate income and wealth inequality alongside national economic development are expected to be discussed.
Seo Sang-mok will serve as the moderator, with presentations by Kim Yong-ha, professor at Soonchunhyang University, and Lee Won-jae, CEO of LAB2050. Panelists include Kim Won-sik, professor at Konkuk University, Seok Jae-eun, professor at Hallym University, Choi Seung-no, president of the Free Enterprise Institute, and Yong Hye-in, leader of the Basic Income Party. Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, will deliver a congratulatory address.

The Social Safety Net 4.0 Forum stated, "It is time to move beyond the outdated framework of conservatism and progressivism and reflect on the current social safety net," adding, "A platform must be created to devise practical solutions for South Korea's leap forward and to resolve extreme conflicts arising from unstable labor and wealth disparity."
