[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Park Chan-ho (54, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 26), who served as a key aide to Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and was transferred to Jeju, said, "We must actively strive for prosecutorial reform."
At the inauguration ceremony on the morning of the 13th, Chief Prosecutor Park said, "At the end of last year, amid the public's strong desire for change in the prosecution, the Corruption Investigation Office Act passed the National Assembly, and discussions on amendments to the Prosecutors' Office Act and the Criminal Procedure Act are underway." He added, "The prosecution is making efforts to be a 'prosecution that works with the people,' but there are evaluations that it falls short of the public's hopes and expectations." He continued, "This shows how much the public places their expectations and hopes on the prosecution," and said, "Let us continue to actively work toward prosecutorial reform."
Chief Prosecutor Park emphasized, "This year is the year of the 21st National Assembly elections," and stressed, "We must thoroughly prepare against election crimes such as vote-buying, false campaigning, and election interference by public officials to prevent the distortion of the people's political choices by money or power."
He also urged, "Please devote more sincerity to the Jeju 4.3 incident, where the lives of the people were violated by state power, and focus your capabilities on responding to crimes that directly cause suffering to the residents of Jeju."
Chief Prosecutor Park is from Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, graduated from Suncheon High School and Chonnam National University, and has served as head of the Special 3 Division at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, head of the Financial Investigation 1 Division at Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, head of the Public Security Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, and head of the Public Investigation Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
Meanwhile, Kang Nam-il (51, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 23), who moved from the deputy chief of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, began his duties as chief prosecutor of Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office without holding an inauguration ceremony on the same day.
According to the prosecution, Chief Prosecutor Kang started official duties from the morning at Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office by greeting key executives. Although the inauguration ceremony was initially scheduled for around 10 a.m., it was decided internally not to hold the event.

Chief Prosecutor Kang, from Sacheon, Gyeongnam, graduated from Seoul National University Law School and New York University School of Law. After passing the 33rd Judicial Examination, he served as a research officer at the Planning and Coordination Department of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, legal cooperation officer at the Geneva delegation, head of the Financial and Tax Investigation 1 Division at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, deputy chief prosecutor at Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, and director of the Planning and Coordination Office at the Ministry of Justice.
