GS25 Establishes 'Total Hi-Pass Service'... Charging, Inquiry, and Purchase All at Once
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS25 announced on the 13th that it has achieved a cumulative recharge amount of 35 billion KRW since starting its Hi-Pass service.
According to GS25, the sales of Hi-Pass devices and electronic cards have exceeded 500,000 units, and the number of uses for Hi-Pass unpaid toll inquiry and payment services has approached 50,000 within just four months of launch.
Previously, GS25 began selling Hi-Pass electronic cards in 2015, launched electronic card recharge services in 2017, and started selling Hi-Pass devices in 2018. Since 2019, it has introduced unpaid toll inquiry and payment services, providing a total Hi-Pass service.
GS25 analyzed that the total Hi-Pass service successfully established in over 14,000 stores nationwide has acted as a key competitive advantage in solidifying its position as a mobility platform.
Meanwhile, GS25 will begin pre-selling the 'National Subsidy Hi-Pass Device' (subsidized device) starting from the 20th of this month.
The subsidized devices include ▲ eco-friendly devices (electric, hydrogen vehicles, AEBS-equipped buses), ▲ freight vehicle devices (over 4.5 tons), and ▲ devices for national merit recipients and persons with disabilities. The pre-sale period lasts until the 23rd of next month.
The subsidized device is a vehicle-mounted device that allows toll discounts ranging from 50% to 100% when using highways. Previously, it was difficult to purchase offline due to limited sales locations, but starting this month, it can be conveniently purchased at over 14,000 GS25 stores nationwide.
The price of the subsidized device reflects the support fund from the Korea Expressway Corporation and a special discount from GS25, with an additional 10% discount applied when using a telecom membership. The price for eco-friendly and freight vehicle devices is 27,000 KRW (including shipping), and the device with fingerprint recognition for national merit recipients and persons with disabilities is 32,000 KRW (including shipping).
