Dongjak-gu, Recruiting Citizen Participation Group for Creating a Women-Friendly City
Recruiting Over 60 Local Residents Until the 29th; Next Month, Gu Citizen Participation Group Launch Ceremony Scheduled... Two-Year Capacity Building Education for Sharing Women-Friendly City Policies and Vision
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is recruiting the 'Women 愛 Dongjak' Women-Friendly City Resident Participation Group YES!' (hereinafter referred to as the Resident Participation Group) until the 29th.
A women-friendly city means a city where men and women equally participate in local policies and development processes, fostering women's empowerment and safety, creating a city where all local residents, including socially vulnerable groups, can live well.
Last October, the district established the basic plan for promoting a women-friendly city in Dongjak-gu, and in December, it revised the Gender Equality Basic Ordinance of Dongjak-gu, Seoul, laying the foundation for realizing a truly gender-equal local community.
The recruitment target is about 60 residents whose address or living area is Dongjak-gu and who have interest and passion for women's policies.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form and either visiting the Childcare and Women’s Division or sending it via email to the person in charge (danielia@dongjak.go.kr).
The selected Resident Participation Group will be active for two years in four subcommittees: safety, jobs, family-friendliness, and women's activity capacity, with the possibility of one reappointment.
Main activities include ▲field-centered monitoring and policy improvement proposals from a gender-sensitive perspective ▲capacity building and vision sharing through women-friendly city education ▲participation in roundtable meetings to discover agendas by subcommittee.
Next month, a launching ceremony will be held to mark the start of the Resident Participation Group’s activities, providing education on understanding the women-friendly city and the role of the Resident Participation Group.
For more details, contact the Childcare and Women’s Division (☎820-9726).
Since last year, the district has set five major goals for creating a women-friendly city, implementing 14 policy tasks including ▲women’s vocational training and employment linkage support ▲creation of women’s safe mirror paths ▲expansion of childcare projects and public daycare centers ▲support for local women’s autonomous activities.
