Dongjak-gu Provides 200,000 KRW Annually to Support Youth Career Experience and More
Starting March, Over 2,700 First-Year Middle School Students to Receive 200,000 KRW Annual Point Card... Providing Opportunities for Career, Culture, and Arts Experiences Through Local Merchant Partnerships
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is promoting the 2020 Youth Experience Learning Card Support Project to develop the creative capabilities of youth.
This project has been implemented since 2019 to provide youth with opportunities for experiential activities in various fields such as career, culture, and arts, allowing them to cultivate talents and aptitudes suited to themselves, following the implementation of the free semester and free grade system.
From March to December, the district will support experience learning cards that can be used in various fields such as culture, arts, and sports for about 2,700 first-year middle school students registered as residents in the area and out-of-school youth aged 13.
The cards can be used at about 120 affiliated stores online and offline, including ▲career and job experience facilities ▲sports facilities such as bowling alleys and gyms ▲bookstores and various academies, which have agreements with the district.
The support method is a point card charging system, providing 100,000 KRW per person in the first and second half of the year, totaling 200,000 KRW annually. Card issuance applications will be accepted at each neighborhood community center starting in March.
Additionally, in February, to efficiently promote the project, the district will recruit an operating company for the establishment and operation of the experience learning card computer system, and the final selection will be made through the review of the ‘Business Selection Review Committee.’
The selected operating company will handle overall system operation, experience learning card production and delivery, security measures and backup, and registration and management of affiliated stores.
The recruitment announcement will be separately posted on the website later.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Education Policy Division (☎820-1277).
Last year, 2,206 people applied for the youth experience learning card, with usage amounting to about 370 million KRW, showing an execution rate 1.61% higher than the average of other autonomous districts.
Yoon So-yeon, head of the Education Policy Division, said, “Supporting various experiential activities for youth in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution is very important,” and added, “We will continue to actively discover and promote projects to create an educational innovation city that provides fair growth opportunities for youth.”
