Father Sentenced to 13 Years for Sexually Assaulting Minor Daughters Over 7 Years... Mother Who Neglected Receives Probation
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] A man in his 50s who was charged with sexually assaulting his underage biological daughters over a period of seven years has been sentenced to prison. The biological mother, who knew of her husband's crimes but neglected to act, was given a suspended sentence.
The Criminal Division 11 of Gwangju District Court (Chief Judge Song Gakyeop) announced on the 12th that A (52) was sentenced to 13 years in prison for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, including coercive sexual assault of minors under 13 years old.
Additionally, the court sentenced A's wife B (49), who knew of her husband's crimes but neglected to intervene, to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year suspension. She was also ordered to complete 40 hours of child abuse recidivism prevention lectures and 240 hours of community service.
The court stated, "A repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted his young biological daughters over seven years. He also assaulted them for dating the opposite sex and forced them to take and send nude photos. It appears he treated his children not as independent individuals but as tools to satisfy his own desires, which is extremely reprehensible."
It continued, "It is clear that the victims suffered severe mental distress due to A's crimes. A has not been forgiven by the victims and has taken no measures to repair the damage, so appropriate punishment is necessary."
A is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting or molesting his two biological daughters at home from 2012 until July of last year.

Meanwhile, B is accused of knowing about her husband's sexual assaults since 2013 but failing to report to the police or take protective measures such as separating the daughters from her husband, thereby neglecting her duty to protect them.
