How Will Gangnam-gu Spend Its 1.0162 Trillion Won Budget This Year?
Held in 22 Districts from the 13th to 30th by Zone... A Place for Communication and Empathy Including This Year's District Policy Explanation and Resident Feedback Collection
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun), which opened the era of a "1 trillion won budget" for the first time this year, will hold the "2020 Budget Report Meeting" from the 13th to the 30th, explaining major budget projects for this year and listening to residents' opinions in 22 neighborhoods within the district.
The report meetings will be held a total of nine times by region, starting with Apgujeong and Cheongdam-dong on the 13th at the Cheongdam Lifelong Learning Center. Departing from traditional formats and customs, the meetings will be conducted as resident-friendly sessions encouraging free communication with attending residents.
The meetings will introduce projects such as the creation of a robot hub district in the Segok-dong area, an industrial platform and big data integrated platform, ICT care services for elderly living alone, an ICT system for disabled-only parking, and the establishment of a digital district mayor’s office as part of "Smart City Development," as well as large-scale development projects including the construction of the GBC, complex development of the underground space on Yeongdong-daero, and development of the Suseo Station area.
Jung Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, "With the advent of the '1 trillion won (1.0162 trillion won) budget era,' we will make this year the foundation for 'Smart City Gangnam' in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution era," adding, "I hope everyone will participate in creating a dignified Gangnam that is inclusive, considerate, and respectful."

Last year, the district achieved the goals of 42 projects including improving community center spaces, upgrading the Gangnam Festival, creating a fine dust-free zone at Cheongdam Station, developing the mobile platform 'The Gangnam,' supporting the installation of 1,436 air purifiers in schools at all levels, and establishing the '70 Plus Lounge,' and was selected as the "No. 1 Clean City Evaluated by Seoul Citizens."
