Ukraine Investigates Possible Bomb Terrorism in Crashed Passenger Plane
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Ukraine is reportedly investigating the possibility of a bomb terror attack in connection with the recent crash of its passenger plane near Tehran, Iran.
Vadym Prystaiko, Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, said in an interview with CNN on the 10th (local time), "We are currently investigating the inside of the plane to confirm whether a bomb was installed." He added, "We are also looking into the reasons behind the delayed departure of the passenger plane and why some luggage was unloaded." Minister Prystaiko further explained, "The Ukrainian investigation team has confirmed the existence of the aircraft's black box, but has not yet accessed its contents. We are conducting a joint investigation with Iran and will be able to analyze the black box data in the future."
Shortly after Minister Prystaiko's interview, Ukrainian intelligence authorities issued a statement narrowing down the cause of the passenger plane crash to either a missile strike or a terrorist attack. However, they did not confirm the Western countries' claim that the plane was hit by a 'Tor missile' (NATO designation SA-15 Gauntlet).
