Japanese Police Indict Asiana Airlines Captain and First Officer Without Detention for Negligent Injury
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Japanese police have filed charges without detention against the captain and first officer of Asiana Airlines for negligence causing injury, following a runway excursion accident during landing at Hiroshima Airport, Kyodo News reported on the 10th.
The two pilots caused a runway excursion accident at Hiroshima Airport on April 14, 2015, resulting in injuries to 34 passengers, including rib fractures.
The Japan Transport Safety Board pointed out in its investigation report that due to fog around the airport reducing visibility, a go-around was necessary, but the accident occurred because of the captain's delayed decision. The A320 passenger aircraft piloted by the two collided with an aviation security radio facility in front of the runway and performed a belly landing.
