Gwangju Nam-gu Begins Collecting Registration License Tax from Individuals and Corporations
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 10th that it has started collecting registration license tax from individuals and corporations who have applied for or registered various permits and licenses with an address or business place in the district.
The registration license tax is a local tax imposed on license holders whose license validity period is not set or exceeds one year, based on January 1st of each year.
It is imposed annually on January 1st regardless of the original date the license was granted.
The registration license tax is classified into five categories from Type 1 to Type 5 depending on the license type, business area, number of employees, etc., and the tax amount varies accordingly.
The number of cases for the regular registration license tax imposed in January this year was 15,027, amounting to approximately 600 million KRW.
Payment of the registration license tax will be accepted from the 16th to the 31st of this month, and a 3% surcharge will be added if payment is not made within the deadline.
Payments can be made in cash or by card at nearby financial institutions using CD or ATM machines. For taxpayers who find it inconvenient to use CD or ATM machines, payment can be made at nationwide financial institutions or post offices using the tax bill.
Additionally, payment is possible through the individual virtual account listed on the tax bill, the Wetax and Giro websites, and the Nam-gu Office local tax ARS payment guidance phone line.
