Jeonnam Gwangyang City announced on the 10th that it will begin harvesting and selling Baegunsan Gorosoe sap from January 20 to March 20.
This schedule is 5 days earlier than last year, and the price remains the same as last year. In particular, on the 20th, when the first sap comes out, a Gorosoe sap tasting event for promotion and sales will also be held at the entrance of Gwangyang City Hall and the POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks Welfare Center.
Gwangyang Baegunsan Gorosoe sap was the first in the nation to complete registration of geographical indication.
Gwangyang City only distributes and sells sap that has undergone a refining process to maintain its reputation as the nation's number one Gorosoe sap producer. To enhance consumer convenience, various sizes of small packaging containers have been introduced to expand consumer choices and create new demand.
Accordingly, last year, about 360 farms harvested 970,000 liters of Gorosoe sap, generating 3.3 billion KRW in farm income.
Additionally, Gwangyang Gorosoe harvesting farms supply containers according to the amount harvested per farm, and efforts are being made to ensure consumer confidence by marking the refining date on the sap containers and inserting QR codes containing geographical indication history.
