At CJ, they use 'Nim'; what do they call it at LG?
CJ Hello transitions to LG HelloVision for 2 weeks... Employees experience 'small changes'
High applicant volume delays receipt of new business cards with updated CI
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Mr. Kim, a manager-level employee at LG HelloVision, has recently been giving longer greetings whenever he meets outsiders. This is partly because he was affiliated with CJ until recently and then switched to LG, but mainly because he has not yet received his new business cards. He has no choice but to hand out his old business cards bearing the CJ corporate identity (CI), and each time he asks for understanding by saying, "I haven't received my new business cards yet..."
According to the industry on the 10th, since the company name changed from CJ Hello to LG HelloVision on the 24th of last month, LG HelloVision employees have been going through a minor transitional period. Although the floor guides in the Seoul Sangam-dong building previously used by CJ Hello have already been changed to LG HelloVision's CI, traces of CJ still remain on the business cards.
An LG HelloVision official said, "Except for some changes in the executive team, the existing 1,200 CJ Hello employees are working without changes to their responsibilities," adding, "Since new business cards were ordered all at once through an external printing company, it will take some time for them to be completed."
The rank system also differs between LG and CJ. CJ affiliates list titles such as employee, assistant manager, manager, and team leader on business cards for the convenience of external business partners, but internally, they unify forms of address by adding 'nim' after names from employees to the CEO. LG affiliates, including LG Uplus, also simplify their organizational structure to ease hierarchical culture, but still operate ranks such as employee, senior (assistant manager to manager), and responsible (deputy general manager to general manager).

Accordingly, the issue of 'forms of address' became a major concern among LG HelloVision employees, but it was settled to use 'nim' as during the CJ era. An LG HelloVision official explained, "For executives appointed from existing LG members, it might feel awkward to be addressed as 'Mr./Ms. ㅇㅇ-nim' immediately, so sometimes ranks are used when addressing them." The forms of address and rank system are not expected to change in the future. An LG official said, "There were no plans or discussions to change the existing CJ Hello culture and methods regarding the rank system," adding, "It is not something to be enforced according to LG's way."
