Jang Man-chae Preliminary Candidate Book Launch, Over 3,000 Supporters Gathered 'Successfully Held'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The publication celebration of Jang Man-chae, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the Suncheon National Assembly election, was successfully held.
On the 9th, at Suncheon National University, the publication celebration of candidate Jang, held together with the general election launch ceremony, attracted about 3,000 citizens and supporters and was held as a book concert with people with disabilities, drawing attention.
Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, former Democratic Party floor leader Woo Won-shik, Assemblymen Kim Boo-kyum and Song Young-gil, and celebrity Kim Soo-mi sent congratulatory videos, while Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party, and Seo Sam-seok, chairman of the Jeonnam provincial party, sent congratulatory messages.
The publication celebration proceeded in three parts.
Following the introduction of guests, greetings, and video screening in the first part, the second part featured a book concert with panelists including Moon Sang-yeop, president of the Women's Disabled Parents Solidarity.
The third part concluded with a congratulatory performance by ‘Yeonjigonji,’ a five-member female group active in Suncheon, followed by all attendees singing “People Are More Beautiful Than Flowers” to pledge victory in the general election.
Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon said, “I have a long-standing relationship with candidate Jang, having gone down to Suncheon 14 years ago to congratulate him at the inauguration ceremony of Suncheon National University president,” and added, “Former Superintendent Jang has philosophy and conviction. He has played a significant role in nurturing talent in Honam with exceptional love and a sense of mission.”
Assemblyman Kim Boo-kyum stated, “Former Superintendent Jang Man-chae’s firm beliefs and practical philosophy regarding education and regional development will serve as a milestone for the children of our community,” and “I hope candidate Jang will be greatly utilized in our society as an education expert, and I ask everyone present here to join Jang Man-chae’s dream.”
Preliminary candidate Jang Man-chae said, “The citizens of Suncheon have always made wise choices,” and “If entrusted with the responsibility, I will devote myself wholeheartedly to the remarkable development of Suncheon as a city of education, ecology, and culture.”

Meanwhile, candidate Jang graduated from Gwangju Ilgo High School and Seoul National University, and earned his master's and doctoral degrees at KAIST Graduate School as the youngest at the time. He has served as president of Suncheon National University, the 16th and 17th Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, and director of Suncheon YMCA.
