Announcement of the "Busan City-Jongdan Joint Declaration"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] The five major religions?Buddhism, Christianity, Catholicism, Won Buddhism, and Cheondoism?are spreading messages of hope to create a happy 2020 Busan for its citizens through a New Year's greeting meeting.
Busan City announced on the 9th that it will hold the 'Five Major Religions New Year's Greeting Meeting' on the 10th at 4 p.m. in the large conference room on the first floor of Busan City Hall, attended by Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don, representatives of each religion, and about 70 religious leaders.
Held for the second time this year following last year, the New Year's greeting meeting is an occasion where representatives of each religion gather in one place to pray for the happiness of citizens and to foster respect and harmony among religions. Leaders representing each religion will deliver New Year's messages, sign a joint declaration, and sing the Busan anthem together, with the event lasting about 80 minutes.
Last year, there were many achievements made possible through the cooperation of the religious community, including the closure of Gupo Livestock Market, a religious sector practice agreement for making Busan a better place to have and raise children, and the infertility support voucher project. At this year's New Year's greeting meeting, Busan City and the five major religions will jointly announce a declaration to reaffirm their commitment to respect and harmony, aiming for the happiness of Busan citizens and a hopeful future for Busan.
