Sejong Joint Inspection of Lunar New Year Ritual and Seongsu Foods... Checking Origin Labeling and Expiration Dates
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 8th that it will conduct a joint crackdown from the 8th to the 14th before the Lunar New Year holiday to eradicate illegal distribution of ritual foods and seasonal foods.
The crackdown will be jointly carried out by two special judicial police teams (10 people) from the city, along with the Safety Policy Division and Health Policy Division of the City Hall.
The targets of the crackdown include ▲false or confusing labeling of the origin of agricultural and marine products ▲use of expired products or raw materials not allowed for food use ▲hygiene management of manufacturing and processing facilities ▲whether health examinations of business operators and employees are conducted, among others.
The city plans to provide on-site guidance and corrective measures for minor violations detected during the crackdown, while applying a zero-tolerance policy for intentional and habitual violations, leading to administrative sanctions and criminal penalties.
