Borrow Books and Issue Civil Documents... Installation of Smart Library and Unmanned Civil Service Issuance Machine in Front of Gangseo-gu Office
Over 500 Books Borrowed and 86 Types of Civil Documents Issued in One Place
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is actively utilizing IoT technology to save residents' time.
Starting from the 6th, the district has installed a smart library and an unmanned civil service issuance machine at the rest area in front of the district office main building, operating 24 hours a day.
The smart library is an unmanned vending machine-type device available to anyone who is a member of the Gangseo-gu public library.
With over 500 various books available, residents can borrow books regardless of time, and a dedicated keypad for wheelchair users and children is separately provided at the bottom of the machine, making it easy for everyone to use.
Books can be borrowed up to 2 per person for a period of up to 14 days, and returns are only possible at the smart library from which the books were borrowed.
Along with this, the unmanned civil service issuance machine, previously installed, is also operated together.
The existing unmanned civil service issuance machine was installed in the lobby of the district office main building, causing inconvenience during nights and weekends when access to the building was restricted.
From now on, residents will be able to issue 86 types of civil documents using the unmanned civil service issuance machine without such inconveniences.
A district official said, “We are striving to actively introduce IoT technology in areas where residents can practically feel the benefits,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a beautiful Gangseo by understanding residents' thoughts and changes in the times across various fields.”
Currently, besides the Gangseo-gu office rest area, the district operates smart libraries at Magok Station, Ujangsan Station, and Kkachisan Station on Subway Line 5 in cooperation with Seoul Metro, and operates unmanned civil service issuance machines at a total of 28 locations.
