Expansion of 'Substitute Workforce Support Fund' for Industrial Accident Workers to Workplaces with Fewer Than 50 Employees from 20
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Starting this year, the scope of workplaces eligible for substitute labor support funds, which are provided to workplaces that hire substitute workers during the treatment period of industrial accident workers, will be expanded from workplaces with fewer than 20 employees to those with fewer than 50 employees.
Last year, 2.7 billion KRW was provided as substitute labor support funds for industrial accident workers. This resulted in the reinstatement of 1,267 industrial accident workers to their original positions, the creation of 1,421 new jobs for substitute workers, and a reduction in labor cost burdens for employers.
The employment retention rate of industrial accident workers was 76%, and 52% of newly hired substitute workers continued to be employed, contributing to stable reinstatement to original workplaces and job creation.
Expanding the program this year to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees, which account for more than 70% of industrial accident workplaces, is expected to play a significant role in helping industrial accident workers at small businesses return to their original jobs and reducing employers' labor cost burdens.
