Homeplus Opens 2nd and 3rd Branches of Urban Personal Storage Service 'The Storage'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Homeplus announced on the 5th that it has consecutively opened its urban personal storage service, ‘The Storage with Homeplus,’ at Busan Seomyeon Branch and Suwon Woncheon Branch, which was first introduced in July last year.
The Seomyeon Branch, which opened on December 26 last year, is approximately 211㎡ (64 pyeong) in size. It is the largest among the stores introduced so far, and in addition to the previously offered small, medium, and large-sized storage units, it has newly added an extra-large (about 1.6 pyeong) size for the first time. This space can comfortably store large furniture and appliances such as bed mattresses.
It is equipped with a total of 59 storage units: 16 small, 24 medium, 16 large, and 3 extra-large units, and is located right next to the moving walkway on the second basement floor, making it convenient to move items.
Also, the Suwon Woncheon Branch, which opened on the 2nd, is about 135㎡ (41 pyeong) in size and is configured with the same three types?small, medium, and large?as the first branch in Ilsan. It houses a total of 38 storage units: 9 small, 20 medium, and 10 large units.
For both the Seomyeon and Woncheon branches, customer feedback suggesting that it would be good to have convenience spaces was reflected by adding tables, chairs, refrigerators, and other amenities inside for customers to take a short rest. Additionally, a ‘showroom’ was set up to visually display the organized items inside the storage units for customers curious about the storage service’s usage.
‘The Storage,’ introduced by Homeplus to utilize idle space within stores, is a personal storage service where customers can store seasonal appliances, clothing, blankets, hobby items, various documents, and supplies for small offices. The Ilsan branch, which has been operating for about five months, has received a warm customer response with a current usage rate approaching approximately 85%.
This service is available for a minimum of one month, with prices set at 59,000 KRW for small, 89,000 KRW for medium, and 139,000 KRW for large units. However, since there are many long-term customers, contract discounts are also offered for 3, 6, and 12-month terms.
