[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 3rd, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, continued his "on-site visits" since the launch of the 7th local government by visiting Seongga Welfare Hospital (Hospital Director Sister Amos Kim) operating in Gireum-dong as his first official schedule of the new year.
Seongga Welfare Hospital, chosen by Mayor Lee as his first official schedule of the Year of the Rat 2020, provides free treatment for the poor and helpless suffering from poverty and disease, and has been operating free meals for the unemployed and elderly poor affected by economic crises for 22 years since 1998.
On the same day, Seongga Welfare Hospital added the meaning of a mutually supportive community by distributing bread and drinks free of charge to visiting patients. Hospital staff and volunteers engaged in sharing activities with warm words for the patients visiting the hospital.
Mayor Lee also expressed gratitude and encouragement to the hospital staff and volunteers.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, "In 2020, the Year of the Rat, we aim to create a Seongbuk of coexistence where people live well together through the formation of a people-centered community and the guarantee of universal rights for residents. Along with the efforts of Seongga Welfare Hospital, we will strive for universal welfare without anyone being left out through the active role that public institutions can play."
Seongbuk-gu plans to operate an on-site mayor’s office again this year for the "better life of residents," based on focused administration that emphasizes on-site and people-centered values faithful to the basics and daily life of living, starting with the 7th local government.
