Iran to Take Legal Action Against US for Assassinating Soleimani
"President Donald Trump, Intent to Use for Election Purposes"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Iran has announced it will take legal action in response to the U.S. airstrike that eliminated a key figure in the Iranian military.
On the 3rd (local time), Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran's Foreign Minister, stated in an interview with state television that "Iran will pursue various legal measures in the international community to hold the U.S. accountable for the assassination of Soleimani (Qasem Soleimani)," according to Bloomberg News and others.
Minister Zarif described the U.S. airstrike that killed Soleimani as a "clear act of terrorism." He also suggested that the operation was intended to be used by President Donald Trump for electoral purposes.
Zarif warned that since Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, was supported throughout the Middle East, the consequences of the U.S. airstrike would be extensive and beyond Iran's control.
