[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Hwang Chang-hwa, President of Korea District Heating Corporation, stated that in the new year, it is essential to promptly restore public trust in safety management and thoroughly manage operations.
In his New Year's address on the 2nd, President Hwang said, "Since the Baekseok Station heat pipeline accident, we have established a comprehensive safety management plan for heat pipelines, prioritizing safety management as our top management value, and have implemented follow-up measures without delay."
The District Heating Corporation has developed an early warning system for heat supply crises, operated heat usage facility systems utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and conducted safety management activities such as establishing a heat pipeline performance testing center.
He emphasized, "We must unite the corporation's safety management capabilities to promptly restore public trust," and added, "I hope all possible resources and capabilities will be invested to recover public trust through proactive and smart safety management."
He also did not forget to stress the importance of management. President Hwang said, "Most collective energy businesses are recording net losses, and management deterioration is worsening," and emphasized, "This year, we must not only strengthen the advancement and efficiency of existing core businesses but also devote ourselves to discovering new future businesses and securing the capacity to promote them."
He requested, "Please smoothly promote the eco-friendly fuel conversion project of the Suwon Combined Heat and Power Plant without conflicts with the local community," and added, "We hope to fully launch new renewable energy projects utilizing solar power, biomass, and unused thermal energy, and to strategically promote overseas projects after carefully reviewing profitability and other factors."
