Samsung Display Obtains Global Certification for Premium OLED Laptop Panels
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung Display announced on the 2nd that its 4K OLED panels for laptops received premium display certification from the global certification company SGS at the end of last year.
SGS evaluated that the OLED panels' image quality characteristics provide an optimal display environment for content creation, one-person broadcasting, and online gaming, which are new keywords in the IT market, and awarded certification in two premium display categories: 'Content Creation' and 'Gaming.'
In this SGS evaluation test, Samsung Display's two types of OLED panels for laptops (13.3", 15.6") met the evaluation criteria by achieving 100% DCI P3 color gamut, minimum luminance of 0.0001 nit, and a response time of 0.2 ms, the company stated.
Compared to conventional LCD laptops, OLED laptops can produce a wider color gamut because each pixel emits its own light, enabling vivid and clear color expression.
The minimum luminance representing True Black is also excellent, allowing deep black color expression, and the response time is more than 10 times faster than general LCD panels, which prevents afterimages even in rapidly changing videos.
