Song Eun Art Cube Kim Hana Solo Exhibition... Stories on the Canvas Surface
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] The SongEun Art and Cultural Foundation is hosting a solo exhibition titled 'Beau Travail' by Kim Hana, an artist selected through the 2019-2020 SongEun ArtCube Exhibition Support Program, at SongEun ArtCube until the 5th of next month.
Artist Kim Hana uses materials fundamental to the medium of painting?such as frames, canvases, paint, and oil?to create an intrinsic narrative on the canvas surface. By applying pigment thinly, she maximizes the expression of the canvas's materiality, emphasizing the two-dimensional flatness.
The surface of each work, which fully reveals the materiality of painting, varies richly through different compositions such as the depth of color, rough or smooth textures of the surface, and the presence or absence of the canvas frame. Works like empty spaces possess 11 distinct surfaces, each presenting its own subjective story.
