Harold Rogers, Country Manager of Coupang Korea, inspected Coupang’s night logistics site at an undisclosed location in the greater Seoul area and personally participated in early morning delivery. This visit is interpreted as a preliminary inspection ahead of the joint late-night delivery experience with lawmakers expected to take place on the 19th.
According to industry sources on March 13, Rogers visited the Coupang Camp near Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province from the previous evening to inspect the early morning delivery operation. A Coupang official explained, "He visited to check the delivery site and encourage the hard work of frontline employees."
On this day, Rogers personally participated in an early morning delivery to a residential area and listened to the challenges faced by employees on site, while also inspecting safety conditions. This became known when a photo of Rogers, wearing a blue Coupang jumper and loading goods onto a Coupang vehicle, was posted on a major online community early in the morning.
On the community site, reactions such as "The CEO really showed up at the delivery site himself" and "It seems like an effort to keep his promise" are spreading.
Rogers is expected to join lawmakers, including Assemblyman Yeom Taeyoung of the Democratic Party of Korea, for an early morning delivery experience around the 19th, and is currently coordinating the schedule and location.
Previously, at a National Assembly hearing on Coupang on December 31 of last year, Assemblyman Yeom proposed, "I hope you experience firsthand how much tougher night work is compared to day shifts," and suggested, "I invite you to join me for a 12-hour late-night delivery shift." In response, Rogers replied, "I will deliver with you."
