According to Korea Electric Power Corporation, if a family of four uses the air conditioner for an average of 5 hours and 24 minutes per day,

This is exactly double the amount compared to May, when the air conditioner was not used.

If your monthly electricity usage exceeds 450 kWh, the bill increases sharply.

For example, if you use 445 kWh, the bill is 84,460 won,

but if you use just 10 kWh more and enter Step 3, it jumps to 93,980 won.

That means you have to pay nearly 10,000 won more for just a 10 kWh difference.

▲ Even if you run it just one more hour a day?

According to KEPCO's estimates, the longer you use the air conditioner each day, the more your bill increases.

For a stand-type air conditioner:

*5 hours 24 minutes per day: 113,540 won

*6 hours 24 minutes per day: 129,100 won

*7 hours 24 minutes per day: 144,310 won

Of course, the actual bill may vary depending on air conditioner efficiency, set temperature, home layout, and contract type.

□ If you're going out for more than 90 minutes, turn off the air conditioner. If it's less than that, it's actually better to leave it on.

□ Use a fan or circulator together with the air conditioner: This spreads the cool air evenly and cools the room faster.

□ Reducing daily usage by just 1 to 2 hours can save you 15,000 to 30,000 won per month.

□ Make sure to seal windows, clean filters, and block sunlight with blinds!
