Kang Deukgu Democratic Party lawmaker posts criticism on Facebook
Kang Deukgu, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party, criticized former President Yoon Sukyeol, who was recently re-detained, stating that "his sense of privilege knows no bounds."
On July 14, through his Facebook page, Kang said, "Even in prison, Yoon Sukyeol's sense of privilege knows no end, complaining about 'no exercise time' and 'the cell being too small.' Who knows what kind of grumbling will come out today," he began.

The three-pyeong solitary cell, guaranteed individual exercise time, and fan that Yoon Sukyeol is currently enjoying are excessively lenient and preferential treatment." He added, "Instead of being grateful and self-reflective, all we hear are infuriating complaints, especially in this heat."
Kang: "He is completely unaware of why he is in detention"
Kang pointed out, "How long does Yoon Sukyeol intend to insult the people and enjoy privileges?" and added, "Yoon Sukyeol is completely unaware of why he is in detention." He also compared the former president to Cho Kuk, former leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party. Kang praised, "Not long ago, I visited Cho Kuk during visitation, and the difference in attitude was striking. Cho Kuk was studying, reflecting, looking back on himself, and even tried to be considerate toward other inmates, treating them as equals. That image still lingers in my mind."

Kang: "Prison is not a space of privilege, but a space for reflection"
He then addressed former President Yoon again, saying, "Instead of complaining about discomfort, you should first bow your head before the people," and added, "You must first reflect on the Republic of Korea that was damaged because of you, and on those who suffered due to you and the political prosecutors." Finally, Kang emphasized, "Prison is not a space of privilege, but a space for reflection. Quietly serve your sentence and prepare to disappear into history. That is the demand of the times and of the people. I hope you will undergo the special prosecutor's investigation starting today."
Previously, former President Yoon was re-admitted to Seoul Detention Center at around 2 a.m. on July 10, 2025, as a detention warrant was issued, marking his return after 124 days. He is being held in a solitary cell measuring just over three pyeong, which is smaller than the three-pyeong cells where former Presidents Lee Myungbak and Park Geunhye were detained. The cell is equipped with a sink, toilet, desk/dining table, TV, and a foldable blanket. However, there is no air conditioner, and cooling is provided by a fixed fan instead. After this news was reported, Seoul Detention Center reportedly received a flood of complaints from some supporters demanding improved living conditions for former President Yoon. These supporters are said to be requesting the installation of an air conditioner in the solitary cell and additional medical support.
