Han Minsoo, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's election committee,

met with reporters today and stated,

“He will diagnose the crisis facing Korea due to deepening social polarization and inequality,

and present practical solutions

for a true Korea that will not only overcome the crisis but also emerge as a global standard in a new era of civilization.”

He added, “He will present goals for responding to the climate crisis and transitioning the industrial structure to decarbonization,

establish a greenhouse gas reduction roadmap befitting the responsibilities of an advanced country,

accelerate the transition to renewable energy,

and build an energy superhighway for economic growth.

He will also present a vision to lead Korea as a model country for climate action.”

Candidate Lee Jae-myung is expected to deliver a message emphasizing the need to unite beyond ideological and factional divisions as a 'plan to overcome social conflicts and achieve integration.' At campaign events, he has repeatedly stressed unity, stating, "It is hard to make a living and the future is uncertain, so why are we divided and fighting like this? Aren't politicians the problem? Do the servants representing the people need to fight over whether they are red or blue, or from region A or region B?"

Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate,

is focusing on seizing a turning point in the race against Lee Jae Myung.

Regarding disadvantageous issues such as the 6·3 Martial Law,

he plans to address them honestly and directly tackle them.

Shin Dongwook, chief spokesperson for the People Power Party's central election committee,

told reporters at the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul,

“Since the second TV debate is scheduled for today, all activities except for the morning have been cleared.”

The second presidential TV debate, hosted by the National Election Commission,

will be held at 8 p.m. at KBS in Yeouido, Seoul,

with the theme of ‘society.’

Candidate Kim views the debate as an opportunity to rebound in approval ratings. He plans to intensify criticism of candidate Lee Jae-myung's pledges on pension reform, climate crisis response, and basic society. Previously, candidate Lee emphasized his national pension reform pledge, which includes paying more and receiving more, as well as expanding military service credits. In addition, he plans to scrutinize candidate Lee's morality. Notably, Kim Yongtae, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, proposed a debate on presidential candidate spouses on the 20th, stating, "The social influence of the president's spouse is significant, but the verification is grossly insufficient," targeting the Democratic Party and candidate Lee Jae-myung. A People Power Party campaign official stated, "If we consider only the intensity of the offensive, it will be stronger than the first debate."

Since the debate topics for the day

include ‘overcoming social conflict and integration measures,’

the 12·3 Martial Law, the impeachment of former president Yoon Suk Yeol,

and medical-government conflicts are also expected to be discussed.

During the first debate,

candidate Kim also stated that the martial law was “wrong.”

The previous day, candidate Kim visited the Korean Medical Association in Yongsan-gu, Seoul,

and said, “As a person responsible in the government and as a citizen,

I sincerely apologize,”

thus stepping in to mediate the medical-government conflict.

Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party,

apart from visiting the memorial of former president Roh Moo Hyun in Bongha Village, Gimhae, Gyeongnam,

has cleared all other external activities

to focus on preparing for the second presidential TV debate.

Candidate Lee Junseok plans to defend himself against other candidates’ accusations of engaging in ‘divisive politics,’

while also highlighting the controversy over Lee Jae Myung’s

alleged intimidation of the judiciary.

A Reform New Party official said in a phone call, "We expect candidate Lee Jae-myung to come up with a strategy attacking that he is 'politically dividing' and 'causing social conflict,'" signaling a counterattack strategy. The Reform New Party's strategy is to challenge the question, "Who is the real divider?" if political division is mentioned. They are also preparing to verify pledges among candidates related to major social issues such as pension and medical reform in preparation for a super-aged society, climate crisis response measures, and low birthrate problems. Following the first debate, it is also expected that they will continue the argument by pointing out that the so-called 'hotel economy theory' advocated by candidate Lee Jae-myung is fictitious. Candidate Lee Jun-seok criticized in the first debate, "Is it an infinite power where money does not disappear?" Candidate Lee Jae-myung also countered by asserting the validity of his hotel economy theory during this week's field campaign.

Having drawn a line against conservative unification,

he may also focus on differentiating himself from Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party candidate.

The previous day, candidate Lee stated, “There are too many people bringing up unnecessary topics such as political engineering unification,

so I have set my phone to block all incoming calls.”

Meanwhile, Kwon Youngguk, the Democratic Labor Party’s presidential candidate,

called for strengthening the Serious Accident Punishment Act ahead of the TV debate.

Candidate Kwon pointed out, “Since the implementation of the Serious Accident Punishment Act,

there have been 1,748 fatal accidents over three years,

only 5% have led to indictments,

and only 0.2%, just four cases, have resulted in prison sentences.”

He criticized, “When the existing law is not functioning properly,

how can we blame the law’s shortcomings?”
