When an arrest warrant was issued for President Yoon Suk-yeol on charges of leading an insurrection on the 19th, an unprecedented incident occurred as President Yoon's supporters stormed the Seoul Western District Court.
Upon hearing the news of the arrest warrant around 3 a.m. that day, the supporters became extremely agitated and broke through police barricades at the court's rear entrance.
The supporters smashed the court's main entrance and windows with shields seized from the police and plastic chairs, entering the court building at approximately 3:21 a.m. They assaulted police officers and discharged fire extinguishers at them. The exterior walls of the court building were also torn down and damaged. At 3:32 a.m., police began a large-scale operation inside the court to subdue the supporters.
A total of 90 people were arrested at the scene, and arrest warrants have been requested for 66 of them since the previous day.
