Participation in Korea's Largest Electronics and IT Exhibition 'Korea Electronics Show'
Samsung Electronics Divides 'AI Village' into Home, Office, and Store
Experience Transformed Daily Life and Values in Various Environments
LG Electronics Presents AI Home in a Theatrical Format
Hands-on Experience Zone for Home Appliance Technology Also Provided
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are participating in Korea's largest electronics and IT industry exhibition, 'Korea Electronics Show (KES 2024),' held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, for four days starting on the 22nd.
At this exhibition, Samsung Electronics is creating an 'AI Village' where visitors can experience newly transformed daily life and values across home and business environments using AI technology.
The AI Village is divided into three main zones. In the 'AI Home,' optimal AI experiences are provided for family members in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom. The 'AI Office' showcases technologies that enhance efficiency in the workplace, while the 'AI Store' presents solutions for smarter store management.
Samsung Electronics AI Home, Optimal AI Solutions for Families
Upon entering the AI Home, Samsung Electronics' security solution, Samsung Knox, immediately stands out. Knox includes the integrated device protection system Knox Matrix and Samsung Knox Vault, which stores data on a security chip instead of the cloud to safeguard important information. The Passkey feature, which enables easy authentication without entering passwords using biometric technology, is also introduced.
In the AI Home living room, visitors can see how newly purchased devices are automatically connected to SmartThings the moment they are powered on, thanks to Samsung's Calm Onboarding feature. The Neo QLED 8K TV's 3D map interface allows real-time monitoring and control of various devices throughout the home.
In the kitchen, visitors can experience AI features that manage family schedules and check on their well-being according to daily routines. For example, if a medication schedule is registered in SmartThings, notifications are sent at the set time, and the Bespoke water purifier automatically provides water at the appropriate temperature and volume. Using motion detection sensors in wearable devices, if there is no movement for a long time or a fall is detected, family members are automatically notified. This allows real-time monitoring of the well-being of family members who are far away.
In the bedroom, sleep data is collected via wearable devices, and based on this data, devices such as lighting and air purifiers automatically operate in sleep mode tailored to the user's sleep patterns. Data for exercise and health management is also provided, and health data from Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring can be linked to smart TVs and monitors for real-time monitoring.
AI Office and AI Store, Enhancing Business Efficiency
Samsung Electronics demonstrates how AI can bring transformation not only to daily life but also to business environments. The AI Office showcases AI technologies that automatically set optimal lighting, air conditioning, and video conferencing systems for the workplace. 'Galaxy AI' supports meeting minutes creation and foreign language email translation, and even provides real-time interpretation to maximize business efficiency.
The AI Store presents AI solutions specialized for store management. Features include automatically setting lighting and temperature before store opening and adjusting air conditioner temperature based on air quality data. Through SmartThings Pro, the entire store can be monitored, and AI analyzes visitor density to adjust energy usage. This offers solutions to achieve both cost savings and sales growth.
Transparent Micro LED, Next-Generation Display Technology
At this exhibition, Samsung Electronics is also unveiling a transparent Micro LED display that combines modular micro light-emitting diodes (LED) with transparent display technology.
This display boasts a bezel-less design, high transparency, and vivid clarity. As a next-generation display that blends naturally into any space, it demonstrates a wide range of commercial applications.
A Samsung Electronics representative said, "Through this exhibition, we plan to show how AI technology is permeating and transforming our daily lives and businesses," adding, "AI will enable a safer, more personalized daily life and a more efficient business environment."
LG Electronics Presents AI Home Lifestyle in Theatrical Format
LG Electronics has set up a 900-square-meter exhibition hall with a theater concept to showcase generative AI-based AI Home solutions.
At the front of the exhibition hall, 20 units of 55-inch transparent OLED displays are installed, overlapping actual products such as refrigerators and washing machines with AI chipset graphics in a media art display that expresses the AI Home's foundation, 'AI Core Tech.' AI Core Tech combines LG Electronics' differentiated core component technologies, such as motors and compressors, with AI that analyzes product usage environments to provide optimized modes, thereby enhancing both product performance and energy efficiency.
At this exhibition, LG Electronics presents the AI Home lifestyle, which will become more convenient based on the AI Home hub 'LG ThinQ On,' scheduled for release later this year, in the form of a live play.
On stage, a husband and wife interact with the industry's first generative AI-powered hub, 'ThinQ On,' receiving recommendations for food and wine suited to anniversaries registered in their calendar. They check the oven's cooking process by voice command and change lighting modes to match the occasion, transforming the home's atmosphere. Before returning home, they set routines for the air conditioner and robot vacuum via the LG ThinQ app to create a comfortable environment in advance.
Visitors can experience AI Home solutions by accessing the ThinQ app via QR code and remotely operating air conditioners and air purifiers installed on-site with their smartphones.
A space for experiencing home appliance technology is also provided. Representative products include the direct water refrigerator 'STEM,' the 'AI DD (Direct Drive) Motor' applied to LG Electronics' washing machines and dryers, and products such as air conditioners, AeroFurniture, and AeroTower.
Additionally, visitors can enjoy a large-scale cinema experience using four 'LG CineBeam Cube' projectors in a blackout theater concept space.
Other experiences include the future mobility concept 'LG Alpha-able (Alpha-able, αble)' that extends AI experiences to vehicles, the customized camping living space 'Bon Voyage,' and the capsule coffee machine 'DUOBO,' which extracts two different flavors and aromas of capsules at once.
