Kim Joungho Registers as Gumi Mayoral Candidate, Vows to Open a New Frontier for Gumi’s Economy

Kim Joungho, the People Power Party’s candidate for mayor of Gumi, visited the Gumi City Election Commission on May 14 to complete his candidate registration, officially kicking off his campaign for re-election.
Kim stated, "Over the past four years, as mayor of Gumi, I have done my utmost to live up to citizens' expectations, working so hard that I was known as the head of a Daegu-Gyeongbuk municipality who visited the National Assembly and central government ministries the most." He expressed his strong commitment to leveraging these achievements to transform Gumi into the economic center of South Korea.

View original imageHe further remarked, "There are still many challenges to address, including preparing for the rapidly approaching AI era and preventing the decline of rural communities and local depopulation." He added, "As an administrative expert, I feel responsible for the aspirations of Gumi’s citizens and will ensure that these issues are resolved."
He continued, "I will devote all efforts to attracting major semiconductor fabrication plants, establishing a defense semiconductor cluster, and developing specialized complexes for defense industry materials, parts, and equipment. By promoting an 'economic free zone' linked to the new airport, I will open a new frontier for the economies of both Gumi and South Korea."
