"Order by Midnight, Receive Tomorrow"... Gmarket Extends Star Delivery Cutoff Time
Order Cutoff Extended by One Hour to Midnight
Priority Application to Fulfillment Star Delivery Products
"Further Expansion Planned"
Gmarket announced on April 26 that starting from April 28, it will extend the order cutoff time for its Star Delivery service by one hour, from the current 11:00 p.m. to midnight (12:00 a.m.).
Star Delivery is an arrival-guaranteed service that ensures products are delivered on the date promised to customers, with the goal of achieving 100% on-time delivery. The service is divided into Fulfillment Star Delivery, which utilizes the Gmarket Dongtan Mega Center and partner companies, and Seller Star Delivery, which is operated directly by sellers. The midnight order cutoff on weekdays will initially be applied to Fulfillment Star Delivery products.
The company explained that this service expansion reflects the recent increase in late-night shopping demand and aims to enhance the perceived delivery speed for customers. Gmarket has been gradually extending the order cutoff time to strengthen its delivery competitiveness, and with this latest extension, it expects to provide a more practical "order today, receive tomorrow" experience for consumers.
Previously, during the Lunar New Year holiday, Gmarket piloted an extension of the Star Delivery order cutoff time from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. When comparing the average daily number of orders before and after the extension with last year's holiday period, the increase in sales during the extended window of 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. was 56%, significantly higher than the 35% growth recorded during the regular time slot (midnight to 8:00 p.m.).
With the further extension of the order cutoff time, customers now have more opportunities to enjoy next-day delivery benefits. Sellers will also have more chances to secure additional sales as the available order window expands.
