Intake Launches Proprietary Food Ingredient Brand 'TAKEIN'
On May 19, bio food tech company Intake announced the launch of its proprietary ingredient brand 'TAKEIN' and revealed plans to expand its B2B (business-to-business) operations based on this new brand.
According to Intake, TAKEIN was designed around six core values that reflect the philosophy of its B2B division: taste and flavor, efficiency, versatility, minimizing environmental impact, functionality, and nutritional balance. Building on these values, Intake has developed proprietary food ingredients—'yeast-cultured protein' and 'yeast-cultured dietary fiber'—that combine taste, health, and sustainability, positioning them as key components of TAKEIN.
Intake’s yeast-cultured protein is a third-generation protein based on precision fermentation of microorganisms. It is characterized as a complete protein, featuring a biological value (BV) and amino acid score equivalent to that of whey protein. Additionally, it boasts superior digestibility and absorption compared to whey and soy proteins, with reduced potential for causing allergies and adverse reactions.
Currently, yeast-cultured protein technology is moving beyond commercialization to actual application in finished products. Intake aims to accelerate its entry into the global protein market, which is valued at approximately 35 trillion won.
The second key ingredient, yeast-cultured dietary fiber, is a high-functionality dietary fiber complex derived from crushing and extracting cell walls through fractionation processes that follow yeast-cultured protein production. It contains beneficial components such as beta-glucan and mannose in a composite form.
Mannose functions as a prebiotic, helping to suppress harmful gut bacteria and improve intestinal health, while yeast-derived beta-glucan is known for its unique molecular structure (β-1,3/1,6 linkages), which distinguishes it from typical plant beta-glucans and is recognized for its immune-boosting properties.
