Traditional yellow fluorescent lamps block wavelengths below 530nm to protect sensitive processes, but this filtering process results in significant energy loss. In contrast, BASF's new solution uses an absorption-conversion mechanism to not only block harmful wavelengths, such as those below 530nm for advanced semiconductor applications, but also converts them into useful yellow light, maximizing energy use and system performance.
Additionally, it ensures spectral purity, uniform brightness, and visual comfort, and can be seamlessly applied to existing lighting fixtures such as tubes, panels, and explosion-proof lights. It is compatible with current power and thermal management systems, simplifying installation and reducing the risks associated with adoption.
The new yellow light solution delivers the same brightness as conventional yellow fluorescent lamps and LED yellow light tubes, but with lower power consumption, resulting in reduced electricity and cooling costs. BASF explains that switching from fluorescent or filter-based LED systems to its solution can reduce energy consumption by 25%. The product also minimizes heat transfer, improving stability and lifespan, and meets both RoHS and REACH regulations. BASF added that, even after over five years of use in actual semiconductor processes, no measurable performance degradation was observed.
