S-Oil Donates 30 Million Won to Support Rural Food Bank Vehicles
Fuel Gift Certificates Delivered to the Korea National Council on Social Welfare
S-Oil announced on May 14 that it held a "Fuel Expense Handover Ceremony for Food-Sharing Vehicles in Rural Areas" at the Mapo Food Bank No. 1 in Seoul, where it delivered fuel gift certificates worth 30 million won to the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.
This support was arranged to assist food-sharing vehicles operated by food banks in rural areas, which have been facing increased operating burdens due to high fuel prices. Rural areas rely heavily on vehicle operations, as a significant portion of food deliveries involves direct visits to vulnerable households. However, rising fuel costs have recently made it difficult to maintain these services.
The fuel gift certificates will be distributed to 30 rural food banks nationwide and used to cover fuel expenses for food-sharing vehicles.
S-Oil has been sponsoring fuel expenses for food-sharing vehicles supporting vulnerable groups since 2012, with cumulative support reaching approximately 600 million won to date. The support program, which was temporarily halted after the COVID-19 pandemic, has also resumed this year.
