The event drew attention from voters as members of the National Assembly, including Jihae Park and Jaekang Lee, as well as other candidates who had fiercely competed during the primary process, attended to show their support for Kim Wonki.
Jihae Park, chief election campaign chairperson (Uijeongbu-si Gap), stated, "Seeing our party members united along Haengbok-ro, awash in a blue wave, fills my heart with pride," and emphasized, "Let us persuade the many citizens who advocate centrist pragmatism and achieve victory for the Democratic Party, making possible the development of returned US military sites and innovation in transportation."
Jaekang Lee, co-chair of the election campaign (Uijeongbu-si Eul), remarked, "We must achieve national normalization through the completion of local government," adding, "Kim Wonki, the only prepared candidate, is the right person to complete the puzzle of Uijeongbu’s heyday, including the start of GTX construction and the extension of Lines 7 and 8."
The launching ceremony was filled with a vibrant festival atmosphere, with the campaign songs "Deureowa," "Sulsulpulline," and "Kwaejinachingchingnane"—all adapted for the election—playing throughout, complemented by a performance from the dance team. Over 500 voters and supporters filled the venue, responding with cheers and applause as they chanted the names of Kim Wonki and the city and provincial council candidates.
Kim Wonki concluded the ceremony with a passionate speech atop the campaign vehicle. He solemnly pledged to the citizens, "As I begin the official campaign, I promise to remain fair and just before you all," and highlighted, "Rather than engaging in outdated negative campaigning, full of indiscriminate slander and criticism of opponents, I will run a clean and confident policy-driven campaign with not a single lawsuit or criminal complaint."
Kim continued, "I will make this election a 'festival of hope' enjoyed by all citizens, not a source of conflict, and I will humbly listen to each and every citizen's voice." He further emphasized, "By activating a powerful network connected to President Lee Jaemyung and gubernatorial candidate Choo Miae, I will achieve a major transformation for Uijeongbu."
He added, "I will get even closer to the citizens so that everyone can truly feel the changes in city administration, including revitalizing the stagnant local commercial districts and solving the severe traffic inconveniences in the Minlak and Gosan areas," reaffirming his determination to secure victory.
Meanwhile, before the launching ceremony, Kim began his first official campaign schedule at 5 a.m. by greeting citizens commuting on the first train at Uijeongbu Station. At 8 a.m., he held his first joint campaign with city and provincial council candidates at Mangadae Intersection, embarking on the 13-day journey toward victory in the June 3 local elections.
