The event was attended by more than 80 participants, including deans and officials from 17 prestigious universities in nine Asian countries, such as DGIST, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Seoul National University (SNU), National Taiwan University (NTU), and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). Participants engaged in in-depth discussions focused on strategies for innovation in engineering education required in the AI era and on nurturing future talent.

Key programs included sharing cases of AI-based innovation in engineering education, a lecture on the history of science and technology in Korea, and a tour of DGIST’s semiconductor and convergence research infrastructure (FAB). Notably, undergraduate and graduate students also participated directly in some sessions, providing them with the opportunity to interact with leaders of Asian engineering education and global scholars, thereby broadening their international perspectives.

Lee Geon-Woo, President of DGIST, stated, “This AEDS 2026 was a meaningful occasion to share DGIST’s distinctive education and research model with leading Asian engineering universities and to discuss the future direction of engineering education together.” He added, “DGIST will continue to strengthen its global leadership network and take the lead in cultivating future engineering talents who will pioneer the AI era.”

Meanwhile, AEDS is an international cooperation platform where leaders of major Asian engineering universities discuss current issues and future strategies in engineering education. Through this event, DGIST has elevated its status as a leading university for innovation in Asian engineering education and plans to continue expanding its educational and research collaborations with global universities.
