"Creating Ageless Skin"... Kolmar Korea Succeeds in Developing Anti-Aging Cosmetic Ingredient
Applying the Principle of Targeted Cancer Therapy
Selective Removal of Aging-Causing Substances with New Vitamin E-Based Material
Kolmar Korea announced on May 21 that it has developed an anti-aging cosmetic ingredient capable of selectively removing substances that cause skin aging. This next-generation convergence technology applies the principle of 'targeted anticancer therapy' and Drug Delivery System (DDS) technology from the pharmaceutical sector to cosmetics, evolving it into a 'targeted removal' approach.
Kolmar Korea, in collaboration with Professor Lee Dongwon's team from the Department of Polymer Nanoengineering at Jeonbuk National University, has developed a novel antioxidant material called 'TOT (Tocopherol-Oxalate-Tocopherol)'. The company also combined this material with smart liposome technology to deliver it stably to the dermal layer. Recognized for its technological innovation, the results of this research were selected as the cover paper of the April 2026 issue of the SCI-class international journal 'Molecules'.
The newly developed 'TOT' is a convergent new material that incorporates targeted therapy technology from pharmaceuticals into cosmetics. The structure consists of two vitamin E (tocopherol) molecules, known for their antioxidant properties, connected by a special binder called per-oxalate. When TOT encounters hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂)—a substance in the skin that causes aging—the bond is broken and vitamin E is released.
Kolmar Korea applied its proprietary 'DDS Smart Liposome' technology to stably deliver the efficacy of TOT to the dermal layer. This technique encapsulates TOT in microscopic liposome capsules, allowing for deep delivery into the skin. Through this, TOT can effectively remove aging-related substances in the dermal layer.
Kolmar Korea confirmed through experiments that when TOT was applied in an environment containing hydrogen peroxide, the concentration of hydrogen peroxide decreased by more than 40% within 30 minutes. Additionally, TOT was found to effectively inhibit cell damage caused by aging even at just one-tenth the amount of regular vitamin E.
Kolmar Korea plans to accelerate its entry into the global market by developing a premium anti-aging cosmetic line utilizing this technology.

A Kolmar Korea representative stated, "The development of this new material is the culmination of Kolmar Korea's technology, which aims to address the fundamental causes of aging through the convergence of pharmaceutical and cosmetic technologies. As global interest in healthy skin continues to grow, we will continue to introduce 'targeted anti-aging cosmetics' through R&D that combines pharmaceutical technology."
