Yongsan District Supports 70th and 80th Birthday Party for Elderly Residents of Jjokbangchon

On May 21, the Yongsan District Office in Seoul announced that it supported the 'Seojokne 70th and 80th Birthday Party' for elderly residents of the jjokbangchon (shantytown) at Samcheonggak in Seongbuk District on May 20.

View original imageThis event was organized to celebrate the health and longevity of elderly jjokbangchon residents living in economically and socially challenging circumstances, and to promote a community culture of caring for vulnerable groups. The event was sponsored by Woori Bank and Samcheonggak, and was attended by approximately 130 people, including Heeyoung Park, Mayor of Yongsan District; Youngbeom Song, CEO of the Onnuri Welfare Foundation; Hoyoun Yoo, Director of the Seoul Station Jjokbang Counseling Center; Chaeheon Ha, CEO of Samcheonggak; and jjokbangchon residents.
The event began with individual photo sessions for the elderly, followed by introductions of distinguished guests, congratulatory and encouraging speeches, a congratulatory ceremony, cake cutting and commemorative photos, a luncheon, and traditional performances. The luncheon at Ilhwadang within Samcheonggak and the traditional performance by the Samcheong Ilhwa Arts Troupe brought special joy to the elderly attendees.
