Gangdong-gu Designates Four New Alley-type Shopping Districts to Boost Local Commercial Zones
Dunchon Sports Street and Cheonho Bicycle Street Newly Designated
Benefits Include Onnuri Gift Certificate Affiliation and Participation in Government Projects
On May 21, Gangdong-gu, Seoul announced that it has newly designated four alley-type shopping districts and expanded the area of one existing district to revitalize local alley commercial zones.
The newly designated alley-type shopping districts are Dunchon Sports Street (area around Yangjaedaero 87-gil), Cheonho Bicycle Street (area around Cheonjung-ro 8-1), Gaenae Park-gil (area around Sangil-ro 5-gil), and Samik 2nd Shopping (375 Myeongil-ro). The existing Godeok Alley-type Shopping District (area around Godeok-ro 83-gil) has been expanded to include nearby stores where a commercial zone has formed, reflecting the merchants’ association’s request to widen the support area.
An alley-type shopping district can be designated if there are 15 or more small business stores clustered within an area of 2,000 square meters or less. Once designated, stores can register as Onnuri gift certificate affiliates and participate in various government and local facility modernization and market management support projects.
